Meeting on Veteran-Owned Small Business Accomplishments in Air Force

 

Washington D.C. Metro Area, October 31, 2012- Wymond’s CEO, Mr. Mark Adams, represented the American Legion at a meeting on October 31, 2012 with Mr. Joseph McDade, the Director of Small Business Programs for the Air Force, and his staff. Discussions centered around present Air Force updates on Veteran-owned small business accomplishments in the Air Force and their plan to increase the total share of Air Force acquisition for veteran owned business in the future. Most importantly, Mr. McDade outlined how the Air force works to identify specific contracting opportunities by NAICS code, Product Service Codes (PSC) and geographic location of the future requirements through the use of DOD Identification codes DODIC. This information will be available for Veteran Small Business to quickly identify and respond to Air Force requirements that have the highest possibility of award to Veteran Owned Small Business.

Mr. McDade also discussed and explained the Air Force initiatives that support this plan to increase the use of small business. These initiatives include: Senior Leader (General Office (GO) and Senior Selective Service (SES)) accountability measurement, incorporation of best practices, an Air Force-wide alignment of the small business workforce and organizations, plus a goal to increase small business service contracts by 10% in fiscal Year 2013 (October 2012- September 2013).

The Air Force Small Business Directorate will continue to coordinate their planning and actions with Mr. Adams and the American Legions Small Business Task Force in the future to provide the best information possible for Veteran Owned Small Businesses to gain Air Force contract awards.
